2017 Reading/Writing Competition

Grade 10 & Grade 11

 

Description

For Economics Academic Season, any Grade 10 or Grade 11 students are invited to write a brief summary of between 400 to 500 words, on a selection of readings about the topics of globalization and protectionism, calling on key elements of their studies in economics.

 

Instructions:

Submit your essay in .doc format, double-spaced, 12 pt. Garamond font, with appropriate MLA in-text and works cited citations to the Managebac of your economics course by the end of Economics Academic Season. The Economics Department will select the top-performing summaries and will award them by the end of Economics Academic Season. Please follow the following guidelines:

  • The summary is 400 - 500 words long.
  • The summary is well structured.
  • Include a brief summary of the main points of the chapter
  • Provide synthesis/evaluation. This may include how the contents of the book may impact on different individuals and possible long-term consequences.
  • A personal opinion - e.g. Do you agree with the book? How has reading the book changed your thinking? What have you learned?
  • Submit to your Economics Course Managebac Dropbox.    

 

Prize:

The winners of the Reading/Writing Competition will receive an award of house points and potentially other prizes.
